Guardiola is not going to let next season come upon him like last season did, he had a whole lot going on with him which would have affected him off pitch and on pitch, hopefully he is getting past it and be able to move on with making better results thos season. In the club world cup, they have not been doing any better, it has been a very rough one for them.but I am optimistic that they are going to do better possibly next season. I hope they get new players that will help them do better.
Don't worry we know how Guardiola works he has abilities that have been proven over the years so if their performance is not optimal, it means they need to improve the line up and yeah he has tried to do it by bringing in 4 new players by spending 130 million. I have said many times that I want to see new winners in the Premier League but that doesn't mean I want a team like Manchester City to become weaker I just want to see some tougher competition, really curious how Man City will compete with Liverpool or Arsenal next season.
130 million isn't that much in today's terms. Guardiola had a time finding the right team last season and his requirements are high for the players. What surprised Guardiola last season probably was that he didn't do much differently and yet the whole team wasn't able to play like before anymore. I think from a team like that with so many top players, outsiders like us wouldn't expect a downfall like that. Many of these players were making mistakes that actually had nothing to do with their quality. It is not like passing the ball to the opponent right in front of their own box is a quality issue, it is a lack of focus and something went wrong that Guardiola couldn't fix.
He is now in the cumbersome situation that on the one hand he knows he has so many good players, on the other hand he knows how they have done last season. But he can't swap the whole squad. I think the next season won't be easy either for them. Much of the confidence they gained over the years went down the drain last season.
