I think a ban is a huge overreaction coming from governments, it shows they're authoritarian and, frankly, stupid. It would make much more sense for the state to regulate and collect taxes rather than just ban gambling outright... especially because it's practically impossible to eliminate it. Illegal gambling is much bigger and moves way more money than legal gambling.
I also think so, in fact the government will get a very large profit because the tax from gambling is very large.
However, there are several other considerations such as for example for people who are unable to control themselves to gamble so that the crime rate will increase in an area just because someone needs money because of the influence of gambling.
These are two problems that can actually only be solved by themselves for people to be able to control themselves to gamble and also have to understand that gambling is entertainment not a place to make money.
