I just found that Olivier Giroud returned to Ligue 1 after signing a 1 year contract with Lille. He was playing in USA, precisely in Los Angeles and apparently he wants to return home once for all. I assume this short contract was done because of his age. Lille will evaluate the player before doing an extension and if he fails, he will try to find a weaker team to end his career with, maybe.

In another news, we might see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returning to Ligue 1 or finding a better contract elsewhere since he seems to end his contract with his Saudi Pro League team.

Honestly, Olivier Giroud made a good decision, the American football league is of much lower quality compared to Ligue1, he is 38 years old, in Ligue1 he could still play for 2 seasons and then he could retire in a memorable way.
These things depend a bit on the money as well. He is 38 years old, and I doubt he can play for another 2 seasons, I am still shocked that he found a place for himself at Lille.

Either Lille has no good strikers, or they are getting him cheap for bench, I do not know the salary deal, but I hope for Lilles sake they didn't pay a lot for him. Dude hasn't been that great for a while now, and I do not think that he deserves to get paid a ton, he is a good mentor and a leader, would make him even a captain when he plays, but he is not the goal scorer that he used to be. This is why I do not see him being good at Lille. Not like Lille is doing that great neither, ever since that title, they have been doing quite badly for a while now.

I agree that Olivier Giroud hasn't been performing well for a long time, but he gave an interview in which he said that his physique was very good and that there was no need to worry and he criticized the MSL

I believe he could be a great help to Lille, especially since Lille is not a team fighting for the title, so Olivier Giroud would not need to be under much pressure. Lille are at most fighting for a place in the European Champions League, and they have been playing well when the games are at home. I don't know if this trend from last season will continue next season.
