Ultimately, it's just to garner support just as Trump did during his campaign when he said he was pro-bitcoin ultimately winning him a lot of votes. Elon certainly has the same goal. Politicians will do anything to smooth their path, and one thing for sure: Elon Musk is a businessman so ultimately it's all about profit. I'm sure Americans are well aware of this.
