Takashi Tashiro, the new CEO of Tokyo-based energy company Remixpoint, will be paid in Bitcoin as part of stated efforts to be “in the same boat” as shareholders, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Remixpoint said it will calculate Tashiro's salary and taxes, purchase the equivalent amount in Bitcoin (BTC) and transfer it to a wallet the CEO designates. The move is as part of a “shareholder-oriented management,” the company said.
We often hear companies talk about acquiring bitcoin but are those CEOs actually using bitcoin in their lives or just accumulating for profit? This type of people, those who take the step forward, will help bitcoin be adopted better. Soon, others might see the benefits of receiving your salary through bitcoin as Tashiro becomes a leading example.
This looks good but if he is receiving it and selling immediately, it doesn't change anything and I don't see if it will bring impact about what Bitcoin is about. If you are going to be paid In Bitcoin, I feel it's necessary to be holding some of it and not selling but salary as you know is for pay check and there are bills to pay at home, you will definitely pay those bills and perhaps do other things again with the salary, we should not forget about the tax aspect.
Unless Bitcoin isn't taxable in that place then I think it's okay to receive in Bitcoin even if the end user might not hold. The only good thing I can point here is that it will foster workers to keep Bitcoin if they see increase in price. For instance someone was been paid $5000 on Monday when the price was $106k and today the price is trading at $109k, thats some profit made and will make curiosity about the profit and loss work, they will like to hold it if the price favour's them and gradually, we are adding more people to diamond hands.
