You are right and I also think its too early to start apportioning blames especially when it has to do with Xabi Alonso who is still new in the club. The job he accepted is one of the hardest job in football because Real Madrid is an elite team in which everyone is expecting results. He will need time to build his team, get one or two players and develop a strategy that will make them coherent and competitive. His prospect at Madrid is great nd with time we will see it happen.
If we think about it, we shouldn't blame Xabi Alonso. He's a new coach, and it's certainly difficult to build a team that can win championships, even with so many renowned and talented players. Xabi Alonso certainly needs to adapt well. The only way to truly see Xabi Alonso's strategy is next season. If Real Madrid's performance isn't good enough, it's natural to blame him.

However, Real Madrid's defense certainly needs improvement, and a strong defense will certainly improve their performance.
