If someone becomes successful in sports betting over the long run, would you say that’s because of luck or skill?
There’s been a debate in the forum, some believe that gambling success is purely luck, that no real skill is involved, and that it’s not something to take seriously because eventually, you’ll lose. But there are bettors who have consistently made profit and proven they can win in the long run, believe it or not.
So the question is, can we still call that luck? Or is that already skill at work?
Winning in sports betting can be seen as luck, as there is no sure game. However, when someone is winning time after time, I don't think it's only luck at work for that kind of person. I think it also involves skill, because someone who knows how to do better analysis of a match will know how to pick the best option for any match they choose to bet on. So, what I'm trying to say is that skill directs someone to stake on options like over 1.5, over 2.5, red cards, corners, and so on. In the case of long term winning, I would say it is a combination of both luck and skill, because I feel that many things we do in life, especially something like gambling, require some luck to be successful.
