I've been writing about this phenomenon for a couple of years now: if we view United as a top club in crisis that must try to get back to its place, then they are doing badly. If United are now an ordinary mid-table team, then they are doing fine. Unfortunately, more and more arguments suggest that United are an ordinary mid-table team.
As for relegation, United shouldn't worry - Leeds, Sunderland and Burnley will be relegated 99.99%. The EPL is a farm league not only in terms of the title, but also in terms of relegation. The gap between the EPL and the Championship is too big.
Manchester United have struggled many years to recover from era of Sir Alex Ferguson and they have yet succeeded after trying with many head coaches and star players. They have tried to change their strategies and have yet succeed with any strategy while things look to get worse with time. It's really unbelievable that Manchester United ended the last season very nearly to the relegation zone.

I have similar thinking that it's almost impossible for Manchester United to be relegated with very good player resource they have. My belief is like this, but I know that in life, nothing says Never. If they perform bad in a long season, relegation can be for them.
