Yeah, in today's football, a club needs a good coach and good players before the club can be consistent in winning matches. Since Ancelotti arrived at Real Madrid, he has won so many trophies for Real Madrid. This season is the only season Real Madrid has failed to win any trophy under Ancelotti's management, and I think the fault isn't Ancelotti's alone, but the injuries Real Madrid players have sustained this season play a role in why Real Madrid failed to perform well and win a trophy this season.
I agree that Ancelotti can not be blamed alone for the teams inability to win a trophy last season, one of the faults I found is that they had a cluster of stars and in the bid to shine independently, they had some undertone selfish performance, may not be obvious but it did affected the team, sometimes it is disadvantage to have too many players who are stars on the team, at some point there were conflict of positions while in play amongst some of the players, that is one of the challenges xabi will be facing at Real Madrid, a rotational strategy may be ideal to save the day this season.
