As much as we are focusing on the negative side of those, let's not forget that there are some projects that became successful with those sales methods. Prime example of these are Ethereum and Binance coin where they started as an ICO, and look where they at right now. I can't remember any popular projects that started as an IEO, STO, or IDO though, but I believe there are successful ones that started on that method. The worst might be the pre-market, because it seems like there is no popular project out there that started as a pre-market one and became successful.
I haven't forgotten the successful projects using ICOs and other funding mechanisms. However, what's concerning is, from all funding methods, more fail. This means that the current token or coin sales mechanism, despite various innovations, hasn't been able to minimize the potential for project failure or even scams. if in the future a new token sale model were to emerge beyond the existing ones, the concern would remain: only the initial projects that adopt it will succeed, but subsequent projects will failed too. It's indeed an unstoppable cycle, but how to anticipate it remains unclear.
