I just didn’t see how bad the team has deteriorated. I mean, they still had the source in its squad, some of the best players there is but, it’s already looking as though they’ve all been over hyped and we ought to have turned our attention to Hakimi, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia and Mendes, these guys are making football look easy.
Real Madrid is undoubtedly a major European club, but their performances over the past season have been inconsistent. Xabi Alonso brings new hope for improvement, but things aren't perfect yet, and he still has to address the issues one by one. Real Madrid have a luxurious squad, but their performances haven't lived up to expectations. I don't agree that Real Madrid's time is over.
PSG's European glory seems to have begun - but I still have serious doubts about the club. I don't believe they're a consistent team across seasons - unlike Real Madrid or some other top teams. Several PSG players are in top form - including Dembele, Kvaratskhelia, Mendes and Hakimi.
No matter how big a club is or how strong its squad, if they experience a downturn, they can't avoid it. All they can do is bounce back quickly. I agree that Real Madrid weren't that bad last season, but I can't deny that their decline was also very noticeable.
Xabi needs time to understand the squad he has, and even though he's been competing, I don't think that's enough. He's also likely to continue changing his squad by bringing in new players or selling existing ones. We'll see the results this season when it starts. And I'll have to watch a few matches first to see how they perform.
