The PSG-Real Madrid match was a total disappointment. I hoped for Real Madrid to revive in the second half but not much thing changed. Xabi Alonso is new there of course and hopefully they will get better in time.
When PSG scored an early goal against Real Madrid in the first half, I hoped for Real Madrid to fight back and give themselves the opportunity to come back against PSG, but when PSG scored their 3rd goal in the first half, I knew it was over for Real Madrid, and there's nothing they could do in the second half that would make them beat PSG. Yeah, Xabi Alonso is new there, and he has shown positive progress in the Club World Cup, but the semifinal game he played against PSG really exposed how weak Real Madrid is, and if Xabi Alonso doesn't sign 3-4 players to overhaul the Real Madrid squad, it will be difficult for him to perform well next season.
Saying 3-4 players might be a bit much, but I think they need at least two defenders. After Huijsen's red card, Asencio couldn't fill that gap. It'll be a major problem in big matches. Real Madrid needs a good substitute. After conceding an early goal against Paris Saint-Germain, they were left helpless and forced to watch Paris Saint-Germain play. This wasn't a look that suited a team like Real Madrid. I'd expect a fierce battle between the two teams, at the very least. Therefore, the Spanish manager will definitely make some signings.
