I remember having this kind of experience when I was still young. The ones who actually forced us to keep on playing are not just gambling addicts but gangsters, too. We cannot walk away with the winning money because they will just keep on playing, and they will use any means necessary just to keep us from the same space. We cannot even take a pee because they think we will run away.
They are using their watch and keys to their motorcycles as bets which made us more worried that we cannot get away anymore. Luckily, we are playing outside and some friends came over to check on us so we got away.
This brought back memories. I can still remember a similar experience like this during board games like draughts or chess. It is usually your opponent who is losing that will prevent you from quitting when you want to. Ofcourse he has his supporters who would make sure that you don't leave.

The opponents intention is to win back what he has lost; so you have no option than to keep playing with a crazy partner who is chasing losses.

It's not really a healthy experience. I don't know if such still happens now. If I will ever have the need to engage in street gambling again, I will make sure I reach an agreement with my partner before I start.
