Swiatek has just been her opponent Anisimova 6-0 in straight sets. They said back in 1983 Martina Navratilova won against her opponent 6-0 but that was only in the first set of the finals.
This will her first win at the British grass court club. Congratulations to Iga!

Actually I didn't watch the game, but then when I saw some clips on tiktok and I was thinking that there's something wrong with the score. So I double check everything and yeah, I haven't seen a finals match wherein the score was love set.
Anyway, it just shows that Swiatek is really in the zone in this game. We should also give credit to Anisimova for reaching the finals but it was Swiatek time to really capture the trophy this year.
I would only assume Anisimova was overwhelmed by both the occasion and the
intensity of Swiatek.
It was her first grand slam final and it happened to be probably the most prestigious
one with a lot of history, it can be difficult to try manage that alone in your brain
and then trying to deal with Iga.
The score board is not a reflection of the standard of each player, its just a result
from that day. I'm happy for our bets though.
I would agree with your observation, perhaps she was really overwhelmed by the situation that she is facing right now. Most of the time first timer in a grand slam is very hard for someone it's like you really don't know what to expect and then your opponent is simply unbreakable. But hopefully, Anisimova have learned her hard lessons here and it will not deter her from playing great tennis and maybe reach another grand slam but the results might be very different. So congrats to those who back up Swiatek as Iga needed this kind of win to have his confidence back again.
