Hasn't Arsenal been in negotiations with Sporting for a long time regarding their desire to sign Gyokeres? Yes, the negotiations were indeed tough regarding the price but I think Arsenal really didn't want to sacrifice much for Gyokeres. Meaning, they didn't really want to address their core squad needs and turn to Maudeke, who is essentially a winger. Let's look at their previous success in signing Zubimendi and now Madueke. With these two players prices, Arsenal should have been able to sign Gyokeres. I don't know, I'm not a fan of theirs but I find their actions in the current transfer market strange.
