It is better to take other options to control while doing this that you are sure will help you with for example you can use self exclude from the casinos that will not let you to play again for specific amount of time and you can't change once you self excluded but this you can change at anytime when you want and that's most likely happen with most gambling addicts who says they will stop from now but in a few days they will relapse harder and losing more.

I always wonder how self-exclusion from a single platform can save someone from their gambling addiction when they literally have so many more options available out there. I mean, it's like your father tells one shopkeeper not to sell your chocolates anymore as a kid because you've been eating a lot lately, when there are literally so many other shops where you can go and buy some. It doesn't make any sense, unless someone is getting themselves self-excluded from every single platform, which doesn't seem possible because there are a lot of casinos, and you won't create accounts on every platform and then self-exclude yourself.

The only solution to addiction is for someone around the addicted to keep them away from the electronic devices that they can use for gambling, and make sure they don't go to land-based casinos or betting shops as well, and then they might not gamble because they won't have a way. If you don't do that, and leave the addicted free to do whatever they want, they will surely do it somehow.
