Honestly, I don’t think banning or trying to control cockfighting in the Philippines is gonna do much.
It’s insanely popular over there — not just some hobby, it’s part of their culture. Official fights happen all the time in almost every city, but even that’s not enough for people, so yeah, they organize illegal ones too.
What really surprised me is how seriously they take it, roosters there are treated like royalty — they feed them the best stuff, bathe them, even hug them. No joke. Some dudes spend more time with their roosters than with their own families 😂

I don’t even know how to feel about it, to be honest, it’s weird to me, but at the same time… it’s their thing, their culture.
Not really our place to judge or push our own values on them, sometimes all you can do is just watch and try to understand, even if it feels a bit wild.
I have never been a fan of violent sports against animals. These innocent creatures are exposed to dangerous games that can harm and even kill them. Cockfighting and other forms of animal cruelty games should be banned in the Philippines and other countries. The government should crack down on all these gangs that promote this inhuman sport and prosecute them. We are in the 21st century, and any cultural practice that subjects animals to exploitation should be abolished.

Its 21st century already. We should have learned already that millions chickens die every minute of every day, some of them are friend in McDonald and KFC but we don't see it as cruelty?

Chickens are meant for food. Once a rooster dies in fighting, it will eventually be cooked for food. No different from those white leghorns that chicken slaughter houses.
