Yeah, first page of google didn't mention the recent scamming done by this exchange so I fell for it.

I've written for crypto publications before, exposing scams. I let them know that, but I'm not particularly hopeful about seeing my money again.

$4k down the drain here. Even if they're smart and give me back my money (I definitely have the capacity to end the slow rug quickly), that wasted a lot of time for me. I'm starting work on my expose tomorrow, and while I don't work for the crypto news outlets anymore (in fact I've been away from crypto for years), I have friends who can easily publish it.
