One click away: Philippines grapples with online gambling boom – and doom
The present administration should address this issue promptly, as failing to do so will harm the administration’s trust ratings. This presents a dilemma between maintaining trust ratings and losing revenues.
I don’t think the Philippine government has the luxury of losing its revenue; the gambling industry is like a duck that lays a golden egg, and they cannot afford to lose it.
So when the Congress opens, there will be a debate between strict restrictions and a total ban. I think 5 or 6 lawmakers have already filed for a total ban, but there will be a heated discussion in the plenary.
They do address it right? With the closing of the POGO's? But still if gambling in the Philippines is in their 3 big e-wallet: Gcash, Paymaya and Coins.ph then it's hard to stop it as this company are huge and they might be paying big taxes to the government that's why there we're able to put that in their apps.
But as what we all know, there is also the negative side of online gambling not just in the Philippines. But it just shows though the decay in the current government and when the last President was fighting drugs because he doesn't want his country to be the next Mexico, but now it's a different war as the Philippines is turning into a doom and decay because of gambling.
