There is some transfer activity on Atletico Madrid side recently.

- Álex Baena
- Matteo Ruggeri
- Clément Lenglet

They spent 42 million euros for Baena. Quite the money that is!  Smiley  It is an investment for the future maybe as he is still 23. Do you find him a good LW now?

Ruggeri is another youngster (22). I assume Simeone is planning to put him in the starting lineup instead of Javi Galán.

Lenglet is a really good free signing though. After releasing Witsel and Azpilicueta it is a good move.

Atlético Madrid is only fighting for third place. Even when they have a good squad, they manage to make disasters just when they need to be consistent. No matter how many signings they make, the result will always be the same:

1 - They won't win La Liga.

2 - The players they signed will lose their skills and leave the team.

I've seen these two scenarios every La Liga season. In my opinion, these three players are going to destroy their careers at Atlético Madrid. I sincerely hope they reach agreements with other, better clubs in the next transfer window. If they stay at Atlético Madrid, they won't achieve anything.

The last time Atlético Madrid won La Liga was in 2021, but before that it was in 2014.

they will hardly be able to win La Liga any time soon.  Grin
Gotta love how Atleti get labeled as the graveyard for football careers, when the real pattern is way more nuanced. They have finished top-4 every single season since 2012-13. Consistency most clubs would sell their soul for. True, the ceiling has always been there. The system demanding, burns out creative types, and they rarely take big creative risks without it blowing up. Case in point: €127m on Felix, now worth half. Expensive lesson

The squad refresh this year is all about efficiency. They did not buy stars; they bought players built for the system (Ruggeri - tactical fit, Baena - huge gamble, Lenglet - squad depth). And they offloaded €16m in veteran wages, which is classic Atleti: wage bill management over hype

You say these signings will "lose their skills". I would say the opposite: if you are a tactically disciplined, high-effort player, you become a Champions League-level pro here. If you are a flair merchant, sure, your YouTube highlights dry up. But the club is not supposed to be Ajax or Brighton. It is a machine for a certain type of footballer

Last thing: This team "cannot win La Liga". People said the same before 2014, and again before 2021. The problem is, if Baena actually adapts, the system might evolve. Then, Atleti's ceiling could move, not just the floor. Write them off at your own risk
