There are so many examples around us where people with only skills have made progress in life. Take example of Bill Gates, he was not rich from day one but using his skills he launched a company that is now one of biggest tech company in the world. Self made billionaires like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates are not passing all their net worth to their kids rather they want their kids to find their own way because they know that if their kids are capable they will earn money on their own. Money is secondary thing, primary thing is whether you have the burning desire to become rich.
You better read this.

Bill Gates was the son of wealthy parents, his father was a partner in the law firm Preston Gates & Ellis, his mother was on board of directors for First Interstate BancSystem and the United Way.
Howard Homan Buffett (August 13, 1903 – April 30, 1964) was an American businessman, investor, and politician. He was a four-term Republican United States Representative for the state of Nebraska. He was the father of Warren Buffett, the billionaire businessman and investor.

Having burning desire to become rich isn't enough, you might able to improve yourself year by year, but there's always a limit with how much money you can make from the resource you have.

The effort from poor people to change their life to be middle upper class might be more higher compared to kids who born from rich parents that change their life from millionaire to multi millionaire.
