This is his first season though I wont use the conference league and Club World Cup trophies to conclude if he is a better coach or not. If you do some research you will found out that most managers do win trophies in their first season. Arteta won a trophy, Erik Ten Hag also won a trophy, including so many others. But the real deal here is the 3 to 5 years interval, can he maintain this same energy in the club or can he bring something even better to the club. Maresca should never be compared to Pep, they may have the same bald head but they dont have the same brain inside the head. Pep is 100x better.
Well, we shouldn't overstate this. Even though Enzo has been successful this season, it's not impossible that he won't be successful next season. However, if he can continue his performance for the next few seasons, then he's a coach who could approach Pep's achievements, or even surpass him. It's hard to find someone equal to Pep. Pep wasn't just successful at Manchester City, he was also successful at his previous clubs. And it's rare for a coach to consistently achieve success at several clubs. So, to be on par with Pep, Enzo must succeed not only at Chelsea but also at other clubs someday, just as Pep has done at several previous clubs.
Like i rightly stated, I wont come to a conclusion on this matter. If he is a good coach, he will surely prove it in more than one season. Because some seasons are a fluke, being in the right spot at the right moment and luckily win a trophy. Manchester United almost did it last season but Tottenham took it away from them. Maresca should not be judge by one season performance, with time we will know if he is competent enough to lead the Chelsea team to more victories. But wining the Club World Cup and Conference league is quite a good performance for last season.
