It's a bad idea for Zimbabwe to play with Teams like South Africa and New Zealand. Not only there's no chance of them winning any of it, they'd also not get any improvements from it. They would just be more frustrated with humiliation. On contrary, they should look to play with similar teams like them. They should have looked to play with teams like Bangladesh and Pakistan where the playing field would have been more even.
The African qualifiers for 2026 T20 world cup would start from 19 September and for two slots in the world cup, they need to fight with other African Nations, the likes of Namibia, Uganda, Nigeria and Tanzania.
Well.. the ICC is being incompetent, and that's the reason. At the moment Zimbabwe is performing at a level that is much below the top associate teams such as Scotland and the Netherlands. But even then, they receive almost 50x to 100x more funding compared to the other teams. It's just insane and horribly unfair. A non-performing team is getting 100x more funding compared to a team like Italy which just qualified for the 2026 T20 World Cup is outright insane.
