Obviously, we should respect the religion and the beliefs upheld but what about those who are not Catholic and would wish to continue to gamble? Does religion have the right to be included in conversations regarding gambling if their beliefs cloud their judgement?
this is similar to my country, where 85% of the population is muslim. it's clear that gambling is forbidden in islam, so islam does not condone the practice of gambling for any reason. for this reason, our government, through this law, has enacted regulations prohibiting gambling. it not only contradicts the majority religion but also violates norms and negatively impacts society.
so, it's natural for a majority religion to voice its opinion on gambling regulations in that country. however, regardless of whether the government listens to it or not, that's the government's decision, as the philippines is not a catholic country; it's simply a catholic-majority country.
