Now he only has $119 worth of Bitcoin left and regrets none of it.
It was meant for Jeremy, not laszlo.
I liked how laszlo thinks. If everyone holds it and no one uses it for exchanging, it doesn’t make sense at all.
You are very correct, Laszlo understands what bitcoin was truly meant for, a currency, just like the US dollar, he used it rightly and will forever be remembered for what he has done. I don't agree with Free Market Capitalist on his opinion regarding the action of Laszlo because like you said, if everyone is holding, then bitcoin becomes useless. It is important we encourage people to use bitcoin in their daily lives as much as they have the opportunity, that will help bitcoin more than all of us locking the coin away in our hardware wallets.
In as much as Laszlo has stated during an interview that he doesn't regret his pizza transaction, I still have a little disbelief. It is also true that if he didn't spend such amount for pizza, he would have spent it on some other things as it wouldn't be available till now. Even the person that received the 10k BTC also must have spent it that period.
But I also want us to know that the OGs and including Satoshi himself didn't know how bitcoin will develop. Bitcoin didn't have many believers then. If they knew bitcoin will rise in thousands of percentages within a decade, Laszlo wouldn't have made such a transaction.
