One thing you must know is that once you retire as a Super Eagles player, the Nigerian government is not responsible for your well-being again because they paid you for your service as a Super Eagles player, so I won't blame the Nigerian government for neglecting Kadiri Ikhana on his sickbed. Our retired Super Eagles players and present players should leave wayward life alone, and they should prioritize investing their money wisely so that when they experience any health challenge, they can be able to solve their problem by themselves rather than relying on the Nigerian government or individuals to help them solve their problem.
Sport is an occupation of your youth and it cuts down to being an occupation of your most active youth, sport at the top level pays really well but when you start earning that high you start spending that high to match up your status.
I have read about a basketballer who is now homeless even after all the millions he has earned during his playing days, an occupation where you retire in most cases your late 30’s without a structure can leave you broke before 50 years old.
Even the government of America don’t owe any athletes money or help so I don’t expect much from the Nigerian government in Kadiri predicament.
It sad that this things happen but even athletes get to experience the bad side of life, my main worry is the situation of Nigerian health care system that can lead to critical conditions even when it should not.
