Everything has always been based on territory, trade, and good neighborly relations. Only foolish dictatorships dare to go against this basic principle of society. Perhaps the leaders of these countries are trying to become some kind of supreme ruler to control the population... and as time goes by, nuclear weapons serve as a show of power. I see nothing wrong with that, quite the opposite, actually. The strongest wins and rules over the weakest... it has always been that way and always will be, whether we like it or not.
Most of the countries on the list of nine nuclear weapons countrieslaunched their nuclear programs with the support of one of the world's major powers in the middle of the last century. North Korea would not have dreamed of possessing nuclear weapons without the support of the Soviet Union and later China after the collapse of the URSS. India has a nuclear program supported by the United States to counter the Soviet power in its neighborhood, and then Pakistan is supported by China. In short, there are only three major nuclear powers: the United States, China, and Russia. The other six countries have nuclear programs as proxies for one of these three countries.
