BitMarxz is correct. Backups should be done as soon as the wallet is created to avoid further issues. Regardless of whether the software has automatic updates or not, be sure to download the wallet software from the official website. I recommend using a hardware wallet to store your seed phrase more securely (obviously, a new wallet should be created and should never leave the device).
