Personally, I don't see anything wrong with buying bitcoin from somebody you know in real life. You just have to be smart about it. If you can't trust people you know, then how does it make sense to trust random strangers on the internet? Except it's an exchange P2P, you can buy stolen coins without knowing. The case will be even easier if you bought from someone you know, because the authorities can question both of you and dig down to the truth.
The question is do we truly know those we claim to know?. The society in which we live in is such a cruel one. Trust is a big word, I mean many people have landed themselves into problems they didn't start simply because the trust a close friend, relative and colleague. It is best to stay out of trouble. If I can't point out how some one I know got their coin I will never buy from them no matter how cheap the choose to see them. I have been a victim before and I know how serious the case was. It did cost me much to exempt myself from the case.
