An interesting story with peer to peer currencies secured by cryptographic mathematics is that of ross ulbricht. I wrote to him while he was incarcerated, sort of wonder if he ever received the correspondence. What he did was influenced by federal agents who only wanted to better themselves in their system of drugs monopoly.  Victims are often fabricated, and so many people lose perspective of a reality of who they are faced with the power of punishments of authorities who look at themselves as if they have a situation which warrents tyrannical controls.
