Obviously, we should respect the religion and the beliefs upheld but what about those who are not Catholic and would wish to continue to gamble? Does religion have the right to be included in conversations regarding gambling if their beliefs cloud their judgement?
For the government to function correctly, it should adhere to its constitution, not the dictates of religious leaders. The Constitution clearly states the separation of church and state, and the state is mandated to provide the basic needs of its citizens.
Therefore, when it comes to matters of taxes and revenues, the government should have a say in determining which industries can operate, so that they can become a source of revenue in the form of taxes; it should not allow the church to interfere.
The church should not mingle in the affairs of the state, and the state should clearly outline the limits of the religion’s interference with its affairs.
