Honestly, I’m still not that convinced. Yeah, Chelsea beat PSG, but the premier league is a whole different level. Every team in the EPL pretty much knows Chelsea’s weaknesses. They’ve played each other so many times, teams like Liverpool already know how to deal with them. It’s not like the CWC game where Chelsea faced PSG; they barely ever play each other, maybe just once in the champions league a few years back. So for me, Chelsea’s performance boost doesn’t mean much, it only shows in non league matches. That said, I do get that Chelsea could improve in the EPL, even if the results don’t change much.
Chelsea players' confidence has grown after they won the Conference League and Club World Cup trophies. Based on their performance on the pitch, they have improved, their success in beating PSG is a benchmark of their hard work so far. I'm not sure Chelsea can compete with Liverpool or Man City for the EPL title, but their resurgence will increase the competition for the top four and the EPL will become more competitive as more teams compete for the elite positions in the standings.
Enzo Maresca will continue to strengthen his squad's depth to compete in several different leagues when the new season begins. His success in his first season in charge of Chelsea was the first step in the team's revival. Now that they have won a prestigious trophy, they will no longer be underestimated in the domestic league.
