It seems to me that Isaac remains the main option and the other options are just a way to show that Liverpool are not limited in their choice (a way to strengthen their negotiating position). In general, Liverpool is behaving very strangely (after so many years of relative modesty) on the transfer market - they have already broken the transfer record by buying Wirtz and now want to break it by buying Isaac. It turns out that in one transfer window Liverpool will spend more than 250 million euros.
I'm really surprised with Liverpool approach this transfer window. This was a club that has been shouting that other clubs are spoiling the transfer market, that they are using money to buy the titles. All of a sudden they are now acting like all those things they were saying years ago don't matter anymore. They are now the ones throwing money anyhow in the transfer market as if it's nothing. I read the amount the tabled for Isaak, I was like wow, so Liverpool can spend this big after all! So why were they acting like the innocent club all these years?
Imagine how Klopp looks at this, who has been in straitened (relatively, of course) circumstances for many years and himself stated that “Liverpool will never buy a player for 100 million”. Overall, it's good that Liverpool are moving with the times and it's taken them less trouble to change their approach (if you compare Bayern Munich), but it's also interesting to see where this will lead. Other clubs will obviously struggle to keep up and eventually, simply because the money clubs earn has a natural ceiling, there will be more and more loss-making or even bankrupt clubs.
