Another Ex Super Eagles Player is on the deaf bed again. Former Super Eagles Defender Kadiri Ikhana is critically ill and hospitalized in Edo Teaching Hospital by a retired Police Officer and the government is nothing about it. He played in the 1980 African Nations Cup and they Won the Cup. But after his retirement, he was neglected. And today he is on the dying bed. On aging he regrets of joining the Super Eagles Team because according to him it was time wasted. "He would have used the time to something else"
When I see players after retirement and sometimes after they quit the national team complain about being negleted I keep wondering if they expect to be catered for, for the rest of their lives cause I mean your well being matters and is the responsibility of the nation for the time when you play for them. I expect that as a professional athlete you should have investments for the future but most of this ex national players always end up very broke and poor at the end of their careers so how does this happen.
Failures will always blame other people for their misfortunes, when I think of Kadiri Ikhana's complain about neglect from the Nigerian government I wonder whether he didn't receive his match bonuses and payments as at then. I trust our government, they won't even give listening ears to him, I hope that he gets help from well meaning Nigerians to pay his hospital bill. Iwish him speedy recovery.
Look at Segun Odegbami, he was also on that team and I doubt that Odegbami, will ever descend low to ask for help from government to take care of himself. People in their prime should save and invest for old age, if they don't they will complain and beg in old age. I wish him speedy recovery.
