Still there is no word on qualification. From what I heard, the United States of America (USA) will automatically qualify as the hosts. For the remaining 5 teams, there seems to be some disagreement between the IOC (International Olympic Committee) and the ICC (International Cricket Council). The former want a region-based qualifier tournament to determine the participants, while the latter want participants to be selected solely based on the ICC T20I rankings, which can be unfair to the associate teams.
Why unfair to the associate teams ? We have only six teams to play in the Olympics and they should be the top ones, shouldn't be it like that
When the top six teams goes in the Olympics, we will be able to see some nice matches. USA automatically qualifies is already one of the weakest teams. Now you would not want small teams like Scotland or the Netherlands playing this event and teams like Australia, India or even South Africa sitting back, unable to qualify.
