Onana won’t be starting the season due to injury, I was thinking Manchester United will sign a new goalkeeper, and just let Onana go, but they not really ready to sign a new goalkeeper, and making use of Onana by next season might not really be helpful to them, because we all saw how Onana performed last season.
Onana's poor performance in the Manchester United defense actually indicates that the team's defense is weak. The goalkeeper is never solely to blame for the number of goals conceded, responsibility is shared when the defense is weak. The performance of the defenders must also be considered to ensure the team is truly balanced across all aspects. Even if Manchester United eventually finds a replacement goalkeeper, if the defense doesn't improve, they will still concede many goals.
Onanas performance was terrible last season, and I was thinking Manchester United are going to take it serious to sign a new goalkeeper, but as we can see, Manchester United are still satisfied with Onana, they are satisfied with the way he is performing, or maybe they expecting improvement in Onana performance by next season, but am not really expecting anything different from Onana’s previous performance.
If Manchester United still want Onana to stay, then they should just sign another goalkeeper, and Onana should be a backup goalkeeper for Manchester United, they can be using him for Matches that they know won’t be difficult for them, but depending on Onana by next season doesn’t make any sense.
Onana is certainly responsible for his own performance, but we also have to be realistic that Manchester United's defense was also poor at the same time. Manchester United must find a solution to improve their fragile defense, which is often vulnerable to attacks. They need to bring in some good players to improve Onana's performance between the sticks; otherwise, whoever they choose will continue to perform poorly.
I don't blame just one player for the team's poor performance throughout the season. The entire team and coaching staff must be involved and held responsible. There's no way Onana could have held back the attack alone, even if he made some brilliant saves.
