Neither our education nor our research is sufficient
In Kwara State, known as the State of Harmony, particularly in Kwara North, there is a place called Kakafu, near Lade in the Patigi area. According to research, this settlement has existed for over ten decades. For years, the people in the area have used the land primarily for farming.

However, a significant discovery was made when a few white men visited the local government. After conducting a survey, they found that the area contains valuable mineral resources. They noted that Nigeria has not even discovered one third of its mineral wealth.

One of the minerals discovered in the area is a whitish stone that, when observed closely, takes on a brownish appearance. This mineral is used in the production of solar panels and vehicle batteries; highly valuable resources in today’s technology driven world.

Shockingly, the  people were unaware of the presence or value of such a remarkable mineral. This shows that our education system and level of research are not sufficient to help us fully identify, utilize, and benefit from our own natural resources.

Despite this, some people still say education is a scam. The truth is, we must encourage ourselves to learn, read, and carry out more research in order to increase our knowledge.

What you don't know can hold you back. Knowledge is power.
