LeBron James is expected to announce his retirement after the 2025–26 season. He’s made it clear that he wants another ring before calling it quits. And with how things are going between him and the Lakers, it’s obvious he won’t be with them for his farewell tour. An insider even mentioned that the Lakers are prioritizing the 2027 season over 2025 and 2026.
So, the best possible landing spot would be the Cavs. Honestly, it makes the most sense for him to return to Cleveland and end his career there. LeBron on the Cavs just hits different, it’s the team that drafted him, and it’s where everything began. Who knows? Maybe he’s the missing piece they need to win a chip.
Can Cleveland win a championship? I doubt it. They'll lose in the playoffs before too long. If he wants to win a championship next season and win another ring, he'll need a better team. He's still very athletic and a true superstar, but he can't win a championship on his own; he needs a few more players.
LeBron and Donovan Mitchell could make a good duo, but I definitely don't think they'll be enough. He could win a ring with a team like GSW, but even that would be tough
