For me, I would say you start by setting up a budget on how much you are willing to spend and don't go beyond the figures. Furthermore, you have to understand the probability of winning and losing -- never get too carried away by the odds you see there and don't allow emotions to controls you keep your mind calm.

This is really a very good approach of gambling if all the addicted gamblers can adopt it, it will help them reduce addiction and even if any other gambler both new and old adopt such method, they won't face the risk of addiction. Anytime I go gambling, I always allocate the money I can afford to lose, after which, I don't make any other deposit.
This is the best way to go about gambling, and many gamblers are aware of it, but they just want to try and believe they can get what they want by gambling, so they insist on gambling with more money. Greed is a major problem in gambling. It is not that some people don't understand gambling as a game of luck; rather, they believe that their knowledge and strategy can easily make them lucky in gambling. In gambling, no matter the strategy and knowledge you have about a game, it doesn't really change gambling into a game that is certain; it still remains a game of luck. If gamblers can set aside greed, it will be very easy to set a limit and play according to that limit.
