You remember when Rasmus Hojlund was sought after by Man UTD, how much did the English club pay for him? Over a£100m plus and it's not like the Danish player was better than Lookman but it gets to his (Ademola) turn, they reduce the price. Is it because they are trying to punish him for a mistake he doesn't know about or they are really desperate to offload him from their team? Believe you me, if he eventually enters any other Italian outfit, I bet you he'd gladly wreak havoc on Atalanta should they meet.
For now, it's just Inter that's the Italian team that we've heard about coming for the Nigerian and like you said the club may think to reduce his asking price if they don't get much offers.
Different scenarios.
These things don't work like that. First of all, Hojlund was not sold for a hundred million, he was sold for 70 million. Then let's look at their ages. Hojlund was 21 when Man United signed him. Lookman will be 28 by October. Nobody wants to sign a 28 year old, who will have no resale value for more than 60 million euros. If you look at Lookman's market value, you'll see that it's at 60 million, and clubs will try to get him for less than that price.
With Hojlund, he looked like a young prospect who would go on to be among the best in his position. Too bad he didn't turn out that way, but players like that are very expensive.
I understand that African players are not rated that highly, but in this case, I believe 50 million is a fair price for Lookman. The fact that another club overpaid for another player doesn't mean he has to be more expensive. He has just three more years, maximum of four years at top level with no resale value, so he is not going to be too expensive.
When i read this kind of things always make me laugh how much money the whole Atalanta took from his sells. I mean they dont sell ademola who was super good and they sell Hojlund which was not that good for a ton of money and now Retegui who is really good again ton of money for the team.
Very good made for them.
