when we are young, the desire to belong to a group of people is very strong because we are still trying to look for our identity and being in groups helps us find it but when we are grown adults we will be confident with our own identity and will no longer be pressured by other peers

It doesn't just get simpler for growing people in a world of ridiculous demand. Too many young people once they noticed a peer wants to be lurking around them would begin to seek leveling that'll match the old and new friends. Psychologically, it's called rapport, they're people in school back then you'll never have to do anything with if you're not always playing in the basketball court. To make friends with them you must be the best three point shooter.

Some other students may want that the new peer uses a certain expensive perfume to become closer to them, all this demands changes the entire time according to trend and behaviors, and most kids who can't measure up with the requirement don't feel comfortable about that.
