Possible big change in Man City squad. Their first goalkeeper, Ederson, is said to have reached an agreement to leave the club for Galatasaray.
He will be replaced by young James Trafford, who is only 22 years old. Trafford already had a contract with Man City in the past but left for Burnley in 2023. Now the City are very keen on getting him back. They are not the only club interested in the young goalkeeper. Newcastle have also made an offer to Burnley (of £27 million), but it got rejected. The City have much deeper pockets though, so I'm sure they will come to an agreement, even if Burnley negotiate hard.
Anyhow, if it comes to that, that will be a big change and could have a significant impact on the club's performance in the upcoming season.
I think Pep is one of the best coaches and even if I can't understand why he's letting Ederson go, he'll have a good reason for it. Can James Trafford replace Ederson? I don't think so, but Pep will certainly prove us right.
Ekitike probably cost Liverpool for €95m. That's a lot of money. Also you said that he's cheaper than Isaak, but i'd consider him riskier bet than Isaak. There's only 25m gap between his price and Isaak. I'd go for Isaak 120m rather than him, but sadly Newcastle would never sell him.
Some transfers require risk, and risk can lead to the trophy you desire. Liverpool took a risk considering the cost of this transfer, but if it works out the way they want, no one will remember the transfer fee. I think major clubs should make similar transfers and bring in surprise players.
I just don't wanna see Ekitike to have the same path as Nunez. He's far expensive than nunez, and not PL proven. I expected Liverpool learned from their mistake in Nunez's transfer, but they weren't.
I have exactly the same concerns, because they really paid a lot and he is inexperienced in the PL. So I don't know if the burden on his shoulders won't be too heavy for him.
