The title question has run through my mind a million times, in the end, the repeated answer is Yes!
Here are why:
1. As pioneer: Bitcoin is a new innovation than any other, the very first blockchain structure wired to function nicely in payment and finance. Such an authentic innovation doesn't die, but stays forever as long as the world remains.
2. Hacking: Bitcoin cannot be hacked.
3. Fairness: The blockchain mechanism ensures fairness among parties, no discouragement.
4. Decentralization: You can own your Bitcoin and have the true possession.
5. Value: Bitcoin is an asset. It has so much value to the point that you can buy it and forget for years to meet huge success goal. This hedges against inflation and increase financial freedom.
6. Intention: Unlike many projects, the intention of the creator was pure, selfless, neutral and genuine. Such system often attracts adopters naturally and give everyone the freedom they deserve.
If at all in the future there is something that is different from Bitcoin, I don't think it will change Bitcoin or make Bitcoin less significant. Bitcoin, as a decentralized currency, and the other potential it has will still define what it is in the future. If there are other assets that will exist in the future, I don't think what these assets possess will be more than decentralization, and if they can have something that exceeds decentralization and everything that is beyond what Bitcoin possesses, then such assets can be considered to lead. But I still wonder what that is that any asset can have beyond what is in Bitcoin.
With the value of decentralization, I think Bitcoin will continue to be a top-value asset for the long term, even in the midst of valuable assets that will exist in the future.
I think that now is the time when bitcoin is just gaining its value. It will be used as a lifeline for the economies of different countries, since many countries have reached a dead end, and it is an opportunity to save and restart the economy. And so far, in the near future, it is unlikely that anything will appear that can bypass it.In order for something new to emerge, the old must begin to erode or weaken. Bitcoin has not yet accumulated enough “dirt” on itself for the world’s minds to start inventing new ways to keep the global economy afloat with it.
