Their success with Bayer Leverkusen launched Xabi's journey to Real Madrid. Bayer Leverkusen, who had very successful seasons in Germany, the Champions League, and the Europa League the year before, secured Xabi's transfer to Real Madrid. With Real Madrid offering much better opportunities and a much better squad this year, I'm really curious to see how Xabi fares in the Champions League.
The performance and level of success attained at Leverkusen did set the pase for Xabis move to Madrid, I know that Madrid has a very good team as compared to Leverkusen based on the depth of the squad but it does not make them a better team than Leverkusen such that e are going  to say xabi has a better team and a good squad now than he had before,  they are just of different leagues with different challenges to confront so the expectations should be different too.  Madrid for me should even look more tasking because of the quality of the squad and league so it is not as though Leverkusen was any easy but as at the time Leverkusen did put up as almost the best in Germany,  so it is similar responsibilities because they are both good teams at their league levels, it is only at the champions league level that I may want to agree with this that make it look like Madrid is superior.
