Gambling is a subjective term because, fundamentally, every aspect of life can be considered gambling, and vice versa.
Gambling can be referred to as speculation, while some people who gamble in games consider it entertainment, even since ancient times. If someone takes a reasonable profit and then leaves to enjoy themselves, even if it’s in a game, I don’t think that falls under the category of gambling. However, when we’re doing business in the real world and want to multiply our profits without knowing the competitors’ strategies or any of the underlying factors, but suddenly get a windfall, that can also be called gambling.
Everything depends on the purpose, including playing games. So far, my purpose for gambling in games is only to follow promotions or test a game. Once I feel comfortable and the game is worth playing, I can recommend it to my friends, with the risks they take on themselves. This is why gambling should only be done by adults.
So far, I haven't made gambling my main activity because I see games as just games, and they can be played anywhere and anytime I want. I can stop anytime and control the game, including my emotions and desires, even when I'm making a profit or enjoying the game. It all comes down to personal responsibility because games and gambling are created for those who need them and, of course, those who want to have fun, not to become a burden.
