I am not surprised that Marcus Rashford accepted a pay cut to move to Barcelona this season, but I am surprised that he will be receiving £80k per week at Barcelona. It is not that Marcus Rashford doesn't care about Manchester United, but the problem is that Ruben Amorim didn't include Marcus Rashford in his plan, so Marcus Rashford has to accept a cut that's as low as £80k per week just to play football where he will be happy and valued.
playing for Barcelona should be seen as a lift for Marcus Rashford even if he is going to the club on the ground of a loan. Manchester united are not even in a major competition this season and normally, most of her players that are struggling to find a place in the team will happily move out to a better place where they can play along big players. playing for Aston villa last season gave him the opportunity of playing in the champions league even though united didn't qualify for same league. playing for barca this season will still give him that edge and for the salary cut, it could be the little sacrifice he has to make just so he ca have a really good season.
This is for Marcus Rashford's future career development, and he's done the right thing, especially considering his continued stay at Manchester United. His performance hasn't improved for several seasons and he hasn't made a significant contribution to the team. I'm confident Marcus Rashford's decision is the right one.
On the other hand, Amorim also didn't include Marcus Rashford in their team-building plans for next season due to his inconsistent performance.
Marcus Rashford's time at Barcelona isn't easy either, as he'll be competing with several players for a starting spot up front, so he'll have to work hard to achieve that.
