I wonder what will happen to Atalanta next season, they sold their top scorer, they let their best coach go and now they could also lose their second top scorer:
Clubs have to make money at some point,
And such sales are common among serie a clubs, which is unlike premier league clubs that keep key players for a longer period before releasing them. Atalanta probably needs the money, and there is a chance that they won't get similar offer for lookman in the future considering his current age. I don't know if they have what it takes to survive the coming seasons, but I guess they might just have to accept whatever outcome, because they put themselves in such a position, while getting a reward for it, which was from their sales.
Ademola Lookman didn't do very well last season. In 31 games, he only managed to score 15 goals. It's not a small number, but it's also not a very high number that might surprise anyone. However, it's a fact that he's an excellent player. He has great skills, and if Atalanta sells him, then next season Atalanta's attack will be very weak. Atalanta probably won't even be able to finish above 5th place. I see that they will have a better chance of finishing in the Europa League qualifying positions.
Yeah, there was a bit of decline, but I don't think 15 goals was that bad for a winger. The striker that Liverpool recently signed had same number of goals last season. I would have really preferred that he moved to another league entirely, but inter isn't that bad though. And so far, I haven't seen Atalanta getting a replacement. I'm not sure of how they plan to compete after letting some of their key players to leave.
