Last season was terrible for them. They lost almost half of their matches. I don't even know how to explain how a club that strong financially can be in this situation. Looking at the state of their rivals, they won't have much to hope for this season either. They spend huge amounts on transfers but still can't manage to become a real team. They paid €150 million for Mbeumo and Cunha. Let's see if it works out this time.
Manchester United have spent a lot of money, more than neccessary for a team development in many years but results they got are terrible. It seems their transfers in this summer are not good too and I am too skeptical about chances of success for Mbeumo and Cunha in the club. They likely overspent money for those players in transfer market and repeated what they did in previous years.

Not even the Europa League win would have erased the ache and trauma all Manchester United felt last season. They're not strong financially,  they're not all that, we have the club owners ( Glazers ) splurging profits they should reinvest back into the club. They're not all that financially, at the moment. We have a squad full of potholes and we're gradually fixing and filling them up. Most of the major challenge from last season was struggling to score,  with these two additions mentioned,  we're going higher. All they need now is backing from the fans and a little bit patience.
Manchester United are similar to Tottenham Hotspur and a trophy in Europa League does not help Tottenham to prepare better for a next season or to be a better team than Manchester United in the last season. Their difference is only one final match, a trophy, and nothing more that don't help them in a new season. Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will play a new season with a lot of challenge as well as uncertainty and surely with high risk of failure.
