Normally telegram is a home for scammers,  not only telegram though even x and some other big platform. They usually message on X (twitter) . But I don't bother striking any conversation with them I just ignore it because have already know that they are not here with good intentions. That's why if a friend contact you like the screenshot op posted the best thing to do is to call that same  friend and make sure he was truly the one that contacted you via the platform.

Social media is the home of scammers but telegram has become the den for scamming people that is why people don't take messages from people on telegram seriously because most people only use it to send scam messages so that once they get someone who is interested in having a conversation with them they can trick the person and start asking for wallets and stuffs like that. If you have the contact information of the person they are using his account to message you, calling the person is the best thing to do but then I think someone who knows you very well will not ask you for money online when they can reach you by calling your cell phone number and have the conversation with you.
