Russian funds were blocked because the corrupt West blocked them. Russia was playing the game with the West... except that they weren't going to give their country over to the West. Since it was the Western banking system behind the US and NATO trying to steal Russia from the Russian, why not steal Russian funds?
If the Western banking system were a little honest, they would have informed Russia of what they were going to do, and they would have given Russia a chance to remove Russian funds out of Western banking systems. But no. BANG! BLOCKED! Russia was in a friendship mode with the West. And suddenly the West took advantage of them, and stole their money that they thought was in 'trust' with the Western banking system.
Putin's little bit of criticizing is nothing when compared with the evil of the West.
Why did the West do what it did? Because Russia, playing rather honestly, was outsmarting and overcoming the Western banks using the West's own system.
The one area of failure of Russia and Putin was their almost blind trust in the Western system. Now that they have waked up, they are taking down Ukraine, the West's puppet. And if that doesn't curb the evil of the West, Russia will take down the rest of the West after they get done with Ukraine. They are showing the West that you can't keep Russia down, even by stealing billions from them.
